I was reminded of the US, and of how people are decrying the gradual abandonment of the initial intent of the constitution. As true as it is, it may be equally inevitable. I'm not speaking of what ought to be the case, but rather simply of what is, given the nature of mankind. And I'm not ruling out the reality that reforms can and do happen. Yet it does make me think that it is naive to think that "having it in writing" would always be the end of the argument.
