She will not run the White House. She will likely not make any major policy decisions regarding wars, spending, monetary policy, judicial appointments, international relations, abortion, or any of a host of issues.
McCain will still be McCain -- the globalist McCain who wants a League of Democracies, an Atlantic Union type of arrangement, a strong NATO. McCain will likely continue the wars in the Middle East. He wants to continue international American hegemony. He voted for FISA, the Military Commission stuff, and all the rest of the bill of rights infringing legislation. He is still the McCain of McCain-Feingold. We are not anywhere near overturning Roe v. Wade via the Supreme Court, and he might not appoint pro-life judges anyway. He could have pressed for legislation that took abortion away from the courts, but has never done that.
He is who he is, and he would be the President.
What practical difference does a Palin vice-presidency make in this election? Why has there been such a pro-McCain shift now that Palin has been chosen as his running mate?
